Voters approve School 2 Community Schools Capital Project

On January 23, residents in the Troy City School District voted in favor of a capital project at School 2 that will renovate existing spaces to create a community schools wing. The fully-funded $1.2 million project will have no future tax impact on residents. Official vote tallies are as follows: 335 (Yes), 66 (No).

Spelling Bee winners advance

On January 4, students in Grades 4 – 8 from all five elementary schools and Troy Middle School competed in the annual Troy City School District Spelling Bee. Congratulations to 1st Place winner Elisabeth McDonald,
2nd Place winner Angela Munao, and 3rd Place winner Inari Sohn, all from Troy Middle School. They advance to the Capital Region BOCES Spelling Bee on February 13 at Proctors Theater in Schenectady.

Troy City School District is using video conferencing technology to increase student engagement. Recently, the District was highlighted in a video by Cisco, the makers of our MX800s, installed in each classroom throughout the District.

Elementary students learn computer programming

Elementary students learn computer programming

On December 18, Carroll Hill students in Grades K-5 logged onto computers and Chromebooks and, with a little instruction, began computer programming. The event is Hour of Code and students throughout the District participate each year. Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science designed to show that anybody can learn the basics of coding.
