BOARD OF EDUCATION – ELECTION INFORMATION
Are you interested in running for the Board of Education? Voters in the Troy City School District will elect three members to the Board of Education this year. Board members serve three-year terms. Individuals are eligible for election to the Board if they are qualified voters of the district (a district resident for at least one year as of May 18, 2021, U.S. citizen, at least 18 years old) and can read and write. New York State Education Law does not limit the number of terms of office a member may serve. Board members receive no salaries or other compensation.
Anyone interested in running for the Board of Education must submit their nominating petitions to the Board Clerk no later than 5:00 p.m. on April 28. You will have the ability to livestream our Meet the Candidates night on May 5 at 6:30pm. Each candidate will provide some background information and reasons why they are running for a position on the Board of Education.

This year’s election is in-person voting. If you would like to vote by absentee ballot, you must fill out an application. Please contact the Board of Education Office at 518-328-5070. If you want a ballot mailed to you, your application must be received seven days before the vote. If you plan to pick up your ballot, your application must be received one day prior to vote. Completed absentee ballots must be received by the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on May 18, the day of the vote.
