The City of Troy is seeking to hire School Traffic Officers (crossing guards) ahead of the upcoming school year. Hours for the position are 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

This position involves responsibility for directing traffic at an assigned post when students arrive and leave school. Crossing guards are expected to show considerable vigilance in directing traffic for children going to and from school. Work is performed independently with only occasional directions from a supervisor.

Typical Work Activities

  • Directs traffic at crosswalks near school
  • Assists children crossing street
  • Slows down traffic in school zone
  • Instructs younger children about proper precautions when crossing the street.

This is a civilian position with the Troy Police Department, and pays $14.20-$15.90 per hour. Please see the attached posting for more information.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have completed grammar school to the 8th grade.
