The TMS Rocking World Detour team earned second place in their division and secured a spot in the state tournament in Syracuse on April 13.

Seven of Troy CSD’s eight Odyssey of the Mind teams are heading to the New York State Tournament next month in Syracuse following their strong performances in the regional tournament at Coxsackie-Athens CSD on March 24. Up for grabs – a trip to the World Finals in May at Iowa State University.

Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. The program emphasizes creativity, teamwork, and innovation. Students competed in various problems that tested their skills in innovation and performance. Each problem required the students to create a solution using science, technology, engineering, the arts, and mathematics, or STEAM. Learn more about this year’s problems on the Odyssey of the Mind website.

Teams spend months preparing their solutions to these problems, which they then present at competitions. These competitions occur at local, state, and international levels, with teams advancing based on their performance. One of the unique aspects of Odyssey of the Mind is that it encourages students to think outside the box and come up with original and unconventional solutions, promoting divergent thinking and creative problem-solving skills.
