The Troy City School District Board of Education has appointed Mr. Joshua Monk Principal of Troy High School effective April 15, 2024. Mr. Monk has served as an Assistant Principal at Troy Middle School since 2022, and previously held the position of Dean of Students, also at TMS. He has also served as the District’s Secondary Summer School Principal since 2021. Prior to joining the Troy CSD administration, he taught mathematics at Troy High School. Mr. Monk fills the role of Executive Principal following the departure of Mr. Joseph Mariano earlier in the year.
A 2007 graduate of Troy High, Mr. Monk will continue to provide strong educational leadership and work to continue the trend of increased student engagement, a graduation rate above the state average, and further develop opportunities to ensure every student graduates college and career-ready.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be named principal of Troy High School,” Monk said. “We are lucky to have a vibrant, diverse school community with a dedicated team of educators working to ensure every student reaches their full potential. I am excited to lead my alma mater and look forward to getting started.”
“Since he joined the district in 2014, Josh has proven time and time again his unwavering commitment to the success of our students and the district,” said Superintendent of Schools John Carmello. “He is a great fit to lead Troy High, and I am confident that his leadership will bring continued growth and new opportunities for our students and faculty.”
“The Board of Education is pleased to appoint Mr. Monk as Troy High’s new principal,” said Board of Education President Anne Wager-Rounds. “As a graduate of Troy CSD, he brings the qualities we should all strive for – integrity, dedication, compassion, and candor – to his work. We look forward to starting Troy High’s new chapter with Josh at the helm.”
