Wednesday afternoon, School 2 unveiled a new Book Vending Machine outside the cafeteria.
“Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine” contains a variety of books across reading levels that students can choose from by redeeming their RISE tickets. Students earn RISE tickets by modeling good behavior – being respectful, showing integrity, etc. Eight RISE tickets can be traded in for a token for the machine for students to choose a book.
Unlike library books, these do not need to be returned – they belong to the student. School 2 has an assortment of multicultural books where students can see themselves represented. By creating a love of reading at School 2, we are creating a love of learning!
Several special guests were on hand for the ribbon cutting Wednesday afternoon, including Superintendent John Carmello, Asst. Superintendents Dr. Donna Watson and Mr. Imran Abbasi, Troy Mayor Patrick Madden and representatives from the Troy Police Department , Troy Rehabilitation and Improvement Program and Troy SNUG.
