At a press conference Sunday afternoon, Governor Hochul announced that masks and face coverings will no longer be required for staff and students in schools, effective Wednesday, March 2. She cited declining metrics for making this decision, including a decrease in COVID cases and hospitalizations. She also indicated that comprehensive guidance is anticipated shortly from the NYS Department of Health and NYS Education Department. Barring any changes from the State, mask use will be optional in the Troy City School District starting Wednesday.

We ask parents and guardians to speak with their child about personal choice and respect for each other’s personal decisions, and as always, we expect civility and tolerance toward each other and the choices they make.

Thank you for your continued patience, cooperation and understanding.

We will share additional information on the new guidance as soon as it is available.
