Dear Troy Families,
As we are gearing up for the end of the 2020-2021 academic year, I am writing to make you aware of the most updated information with regard to the administration of the June 2021 Regents Examinations. Updates are included below:
June 2021 Regents Examinations
To meet the federal government’s requirements, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) has canceled all but four of the Regents examinations previously scheduled to be administered in June 2021. All students enrolled in and passing courses culminating with a Regents examination will automatically receive an “Exempt” designation on their transcript.
The following Regents examinations have been canceled for June 2021:
- Global History & Geography
- S. History & Government
- Algebra II
The following four Regents examinations will be held according to the following schedule:
- English Language Arts – June 17
- Living Environment – June 22
- Algebra I – June 23
- Earth Science – June 24
Please note that students are NOT required to take any of the four Regents examinations. All students enrolled in and passing courses culminating with one of these four Regents will automatically receive the “Exempt” designation on their transcripts. Students may, however, choose to take the exams if they are enrolled in these courses. Should a student decide to take one or more of these exams, their transcript will only show the “Exempt” designation. Actual scores on the exams may be included on the transcript if requested by the student. Please be aware that grades on any of these four examinations will NOT factor into a student’s course average, per NYSED guidelines. Participation in these exams will also have no impact on accountability measures for the school district.
Please let us know if your student plans to participate in one of the four Regents exams listed above by completing the following form (THS Regents Opt-In Form) by June 1, 2021, so we can plan accordingly. If you do not complete this form, we will assume that your student will not be participating in any Regents exams.THS Regents Opt-In Form
We know that this has been a challenging year for many students. It is our hope that this modified end-of-year schedule of testing will help students to finish this year strong. We are very proud of how hard the students have worked, how well their families have supported them and appreciate all that the faculty and staff continue to do to meet students’ needs. If you have any questions at all, please do not hesitate to reach out to your student’s teachers and/or guidance counselor who are here to assist you in any way needed.
