The New York State Public High School Athletic Association Inc. (NYSPHSAA) has announced its fall 2020 Scholar-Athlete teams and it includes all participating Troy teams. These teams consist of Boys and Girls Soccer, Cross Country, Girls Swimming, Golf and Girls Tennis.
To receive Scholar-Athlete team recognition with a certificate, the team’s average GPA for 75% of the roster must be greater than or equal to 90.00.
This fall NYSPHSAA recognized 1,437 Scholar-Athlete teams and 18,961 individuals. A total of 329 schools across the state participated in the Scholar-Athlete program. Any school or section offering a fall sport in a different part of the school year will be permitted to submit Scholar-Athlete information at that time.
“The student-athletes who earned recognition as a Scholar-Athlete for their work in the classroom this fall deserve our congratulations,” said Dr. Robert Zayas, NYSPHSAA Executive Director. “To see the number of teams and individuals recognized as scholar-athletes during these incredibly challenging times shows how hard our student-athletes are working. The dedication these student-athletes have shown to their studies is a testament to the truly remarkable young men and women we have in New York State.”
