The New York State Education Department released the 2018 Graduation rates yesterday. For the third consecutive year, Troy High Schools graduation rates have increased and exceed statewide averages.
With 296 graduates, Troy High School’s 2018 graduation rate is at 88 percent, up one percentage point from 2017 and 15 percentage points in the past five years. Troy High School is also five percentage points above the statewide graduation rate, and 15 percentage points above the statewide average for urban-suburban high needs districts.
Achievements were made in nearly every cohort including:
- Black students – 87 percent, up from 83 percent in 2017 and 13 percentage points above the statewide average.
- Hispanic students – 88 percent, unchanged from 2017 and 15 percentage points above the statewide average.
- Multi-racial students – 85 percent, up from 62 percent in 2017 and 2 percentage points above the statewide average.
- English Language Learners – 100 percent, up from 82 percent in 2017 and 66 percentage points above the statewide average.
- Students with disabilities – 84 percent, up from 68 percent in 2017, and 25 percentage points above the statewide average.
“We are very proud to announce that Troy High School’s 2018 graduation rates have increased again and exceed statewide averages in nearly every single cohort,” said Superintendent John Carmello. “While Congratulations are certainly in order to Troy High School Principal Joseph Mariano, and the entire high school staff, this is truly a district-wide accomplishment. This achievement comes from the hard work of the students themselves, as well as the high-quality programs and targeted instruction in every District building and on every grade level. We have proven we are a District on the rise and we are determined to continue this trend for the sake of our students, their families and the larger Troy community.”
