At our school, we believe that students thrive in an environment where positive behavior is taught, encouraged, and celebrated. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive, school-wide approach that helps us create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning community.
Through PBIS, we set clear expectations for behavior, explicitly teach those expectations, and recognize students when they meet them. This consistent approach helps all students feel valued, increases instructional time, and builds a strong sense of belonging. By focusing on positive reinforcement rather than just correcting mistakes, PBIS empowers students to make good choices, develop self-discipline, and succeed both in and out of the classroom.
On a weekly basis, we have a PBIS school store. Every month we do a PBIS raffle, a student recognition ceremony for academic subjects and good citizenship, and student of the month. On a quarterly basis, we offer multiple field trip opportunities and special activities.
If you would like to contribute as a community partner to help acknowledge and reward our students, please reach out to mizers@troycsd.org.
