2020-2021 Budget
Troy City School District residents have approved a $113,651,375 budget for the 2020-2021 school year. Three candidates were elected to the Board of Education.
The unofficial results of the budget vote are 1046 (yes) to 336(no). This budget will result in a 1.99-percent tax levy increase – a figure that is $53,357 below the allowable tax cap of 2.13 percent.
Three candidates were elected to the Board of Education for three-year terms effective July 1, 2020:
Thomas Mayo (680), incumbent; Rosemary Coles (670); and Diana Heckman (618).
How to vote
In the interest of public safety due to the COVID-19 pandemic, voting this year will take place using absentee ballots only, per Governor Cuomo’s Executive Order. Qualified Voters who have voted in any of the last five district votes will be sent an absentee ballot and a postage-paid return envelope in the mail the week of June 1. Anyone who meets the definition of a qualified voter and does not believe they will be on this list may request a ballot by contacting the District Clerk at boe@troycsd.org.
UPDATE: On June 7, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo issued an Executive Order extending the deadline to submit absentee ballots for the School Budget Vote and Board of Education Election. Please read the following carefully:
- To be counted, all hand-delivered ballots must still be received by the District by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9.
- All mail-in ballots must be received in the Office of the District Clerk by Tuesday, June 16, at 5 p.m.
You are an eligible voter if you are:
- A legal US citizen
- 18 years old by June 9, 2020
- Live within the Troy City School District boundaries for at least 30 days prior to June 9, 2020.
