It is the mission of the Alternative Learning Program staff to provide a strong educational and social foundation to graduate all students college and career ready. Our staff will do this by providing our students with a positive school experience that allows them to challenge themselves to be their best, while also helping them grow as individuals to be prepared for life after high school.
Our passion is building caring relationships that will allow for each student to grow intellectually and personally.
Our purpose is to teach our students that a “can do” mindset, effective effort, and perseverance are the key ingredients to providing a quality education.
Troy Public School 12, an Alternative Learning Community:
This program is designed to meet the needs of students that learn best in a non-traditional setting. Students in this program are enrolled in grades 8-12 and are referred to us by Troy Middle School and Troy High School.
We intentionally keep our student enrollment to a maximum of 100 students in order to accommodate students who thrive in a smaller, more focused environment. Our team of staff work to create a learning environment that will help and support students become successful in completing their high school education.
Always the Goal:
The goal of this learning community is to make a personal connection to all our students; to support them as they stay in school and build character through hard work, discipline, and being part of a team/family.
Who should attend this program?
Some students have needs (academic, attendance, social-emotional, behavioral) that are harder to identify and plan for in larger schools. We offer a variety of interventions and supports on a more personal level in a nontraditional setting. Students receive the necessary help, support, and guidance to enhance their learning. We respect that students are motivated in various ways to learn. Our goal is for students to become barrier breakers and obtain a high school diploma.
