Boys Varsity Soccer @ Schenectady: 4-3 W

Troy and Schenectady faced off for a non league match in which both teams were looking for the first win of the season. Troy came out of the gate hot from the first whistle and controlled the majority of the match but Schenectady never gave up and was able to capitalize on some defensive errors made by Troy. The Flying Horses opened the scoring in the first half when Dawson Fera found Mohammed Al-Masswawri on a through ball that Mohammed finished coolly into the back of the net. A few minutes later Schenectady earned a PK and Pedro Dani Beltran Lemus made no mistake from the spot. Troy would take the lead again as a well served Jackson Murray corner found Mohammed in the box for his second of the half. Before halftime Schenectady found the equalizer again as Ezekiel Yarde picked up a poor pass amoung the Troy defense and finished. The Second half saw the flying horses take a 2 goal lead early on. 8th Grader Marcus Dudley registered his first career varsity goal after picking up a loose ball near Schenectay’s box and placing his shot into the top corner. Marcus would go on to earn an assist to Samuel Akowuah for Troy’s forth goal of the match. Despite the 2 goal deficit, The Patriot’s continued to fight and found the back of the net again to make the end of the match interesting but Troy would hold on to secure the 4-3. A well played match by both sides.
