On Tuesday, May 20, voters in the Troy City School District approved the proposed $142,360,820 budget for the 2025-2026 school year by a margin of 756-137.

The budget includes a 1.75% tax levy increase – below the district’s allowable tax cap of 2.57% – and preserves the critical programs that support student growth, engagement, and achievement. This is the district’s 13th consecutive year proposing a budget at or below the tax cap, including five years of no tax increase at all during that time.

“This budget reflects our shared commitment to providing a strong educational and social foundation for every student,” said Superintendent John Carmello. “We are grateful to our residents for recognizing the importance of maintaining the programs and supports that have helped drive the continued student success in Troy.”

Voters also elected Davina Mayo-Dunham (708), Ebony Pompey-Conway (706) and Nathanael Wootten (639) to serve three-year terms on the Troy City School District Board of Education.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, we sincerely thank the Troy community for their trust and partnership. With this budget, we can continue building on our progress and providing opportunities for all our students to thrive and succeed,” said Board President Anne Wager-Rounds.

The Board of Education will meet on Wednesday, May 21, at 6:00 p.m. at Troy Middle School.
