Fourth-grade students at School 2 rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on learning experience this week – constructing their very own toolboxes with the guidance of Troy High School students from the Questar III Construction Technologies program and several local industry partners.
The event, designed to introduce elementary students to careers in the construction and building trades, was made possible through a collaboration with the Questar III Business/Education Partnership Service. This program helps facilitate career-connected learning experiences by coordinating with member businesses, gathering materials, and leading activities like this one.
The effort was supported by Curtis Lumber, Bennett Contracting, and Questar III—organizations that are all part of the Northeast Construction Trades Workforce Coalition (NCTWC). The coalition promotes career awareness in the skilled trades through meaningful, age-appropriate experiences for students throughout the region.

By partnering with local businesses and involving older students in the mentoring process, Troy City School District continues to foster a strong foundation for college- and career-readiness, starting as early as elementary school.
