The Troy Atrium has a new addition: a large and beautiful mural painted by the Troy High School art club. The club has painted murals all around Troy Middle and High School, including outside the High School cafeteria and in the music wing of the Middle School.
While Troy High art teachers were hanging pictures in the Atrium during the Victorian Stroll, the director of the Farmers Market shared that they wanted a few murals around the building. Hearing this, Art Club advisor Rachael Duchnycz jumped at the opportunity. When she informed her students about this, they were equally excited.
Troy High senior Jalissa Baker created the design to promote and celebrate liveliness and togetherness in the community. The mural design features fruits and vegetables native to Troy. Duchnycz says getting the kids involved wasn’t hard because they love painting murals and being involved with large projects like this one. She says students signed up for dates to participate in this project, which allowed the project to run smoothly.
After having so much fun painting this one, the club is eagerly awaiting its next opportunity to create more art for the community!
