On Tuesday, December 3, Troy CSD voters approved changes to the capital project (approved in 2019) regarding updates to the Troy High School technology wing by a vote of 421 to 31 (93.14%).
The updated language reflects changes in the scope of work from “renovate” to “construct” and “demolish.” This vote does not include additional funding for the project.
In 2019, voters approved a $56 million capital project to complete renovations in several buildings throughout the district. As we near completion of that project, the final phase of the work involves the Troy High School technology wing.
When the district began planning this project, we expected to renovate the tech wing. However, it soon became clear a renovation was not the best or most efficient option for this work. We requested and received approval from the New York State Education Department to demolish the current tech wing and construct a new addition to THS rather than renovate the current space.
We are grateful for your support as we work to ensure our facilities can keep up with the evolving needs of our students, and we thank you for your continued partnership.
