Sophomore Angelina MacLeod set a personal best time in the 500-yard freestyle on the NYSPHSAA State Championship in Webster.

Troy High Sophomore Angelina MacLeod finished the NYSPHSAA Girls Swimming State Championship with a new personal best time in the 500-yard freestyle just two weeks after setting another personal best time as she took the sectional title.

At the state championship meet in Webster, New York, MacLeod went up against the best swimmers in the state as the lone representative of the Columbia-Troy-Averill Park swim team out of Section 2. Her time in the 500-yard freestyle of 5:12.29 was almost two seconds faster than her previous personal best, set earlier in November at the Section II Championship meet where she won her first sectional championship.

MacLeod has seen impressive growth over the last several years, as evidenced by her physical endurance and mental toughness as she continually posted top times in long-distance swims throughout the season. As a leader on her team, she hopes her experience at the state meet will inspire her teammates and bolster the team’s confidence as they look to build upon their success next year and beyond.
