Sixth-grade ELA students participated in a “book tasting” to kick off their deep study of character unit.

Sixth-grade ELA students at TMS recently began their Deep Study of Character with a “Book Tasting” event. Ms. Curley-Anders and Ms. Stowell’s classes turned into Starbooks, where students enjoyed hot chocolate and delicious treats while getting a “taste” of the variety of books they could choose from for their unit ahead.

Nearby, Ms. Dwyer and Ms. Bennett’s classes turned into a Pizza Bistro for their book-tasting event to kick off the same unit. “Dwyers Book Bistro” allowed students the same opportunity to explore the books available to them in this unit.

Both transformations helped to get students excited to begin this new unit, explore new books and learn how to understand character at a deeper level.
