9/28 vs Ballston Spa: 2-1 L/OT

At halftime, the game was tied at an even score of 0-0. During the first half, Ballston Spa was favored in possession and chances created, but Troy’s strong team defense played them tough and prevented the Scotties from getting any favorable chances. As the second half began, the story would be the same, but the game opened up a little more, and both sides got good scoring chances. B-Spa struck first just a few minutes into the second half as Declan Bain would add another goal to his strong campaign this season. He received a ball in mid-field before taking his defender one-on-one and scoring on a long shot from outside the 18. Now down a goal, Troy turned up the intensity and created more chances, but none would result in a goal until there were about 4 minutes remaining in the second half. A loose ball after a set piece found Troy’s Will Strang in the position to cross the ball into the box, and he was able to find the head of Dawson Fera for a late equalizer. The Flying Horses tried to carry the momentum into OT, but made a defensive error on a set piece which allowed B-spa’s Cole Dinuzzo to get a 1-on-1 chance with Troy’s keeper, and he converted the opportunity to win the game for the Scotties. Congrats to both teams for a well-played match.
