Michael Dinardo, Steven Faust, Jasir Sobers, Maziah Thomas, Justin Gilmore (L-R) have committed to play college football next season.

Before students began spring break, we held a recognition event for some of our seniors who have committed to play college football next year.

Maziah Thomas – Alfred State College

Maziah was a three-year varsity football player and second-team all-defense. He was a member of the 2021 Class A Championship team, and led the team in tackles. He is also a two-year letter winner in lacrosse.

Justin Gilmore – Southern Connecticut State University

Justin was a three-year varsity football player and a two-way starter in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. During Justin’s senior season, he had 30 receptions for 445 yards and five touchdowns. He also ran 4 times for 55 yards. Justin was a two-year letter winner in Track and he was a key member of this year’s Boys Sectional Championship Basketball team. Justin has a 3.7 GPA and will study accounting at SCSU.

Jasir Sobers – Alfred State College

Jasir was a two-year starter at defensive back. He also lettered in lacrosse and track at THS. Jasir is a member of the Sponsor-a-Scholar program and volunteered with Equinox to help provide Thanksgiving meals to local familes. Jasir says he chose Alfred State because of how they made him feel. “It was more so the intentions and their mission that made me think yes to decide on them.” He knows it is far away from home, but he is excited to see how much “I grow from a boy to the young man that’s expected of me.”

Steven Faust – Utica College

Although Steven only played football for one season at Troy High, his impact was immediate and significant. Steven was a two-way starter this season and finished the season with 27 receptions for 401 yards and 5 touchdowns. He also ran 10 times for 145 yards and one touchdown. Steven was also team captain and starting point guard on the Boys Sectional Championship basketball team.

Michael Dinardo – Union College

Michael was a two-year varsity football player and was part of the 2021 Class A Championship team. During Michael’s senior season, he completed 54% of his passes for 1206 yards and 11 touchdowns while also running for 1009 yards and 14 touchdowns. He is in his third season as a varsity baseball player and was a starter on Troy’s only Sectional Championship Baseball team in 2021. Michael is a member of the National Honor Society and plans to study Economics at Union.

Congratulations to all our student-athletes and we wish you the best of luck next season and beyond!
