Mr. Robinson’s Zoology students recently studied tarantulas in class.

On March 9, Zoology students in Mr. Robinson’s class at Troy High got up close and personal with some rare visitors. DJ Wassinger (husband of THS teacher Mrs. Wassinger) brought in nearly a dozen tarantulas (of the 30 they have in their home) for students to study.

Our zoologists learned how tarantulas are different from the more common or “traditional” spiders and the differences between tarantulas found in North and South America and those found in the rest of the world.

Each class also got to see a feeding – which is itself relatively rare, as some tarantulas can go months or years without eating!

Thank you, DJ for bringing these fascinating, unique animals in for our students to learn about!
