Dear Troy CSD Families,

I am writing to let you know the process we will follow for keeping families informed about COVID-19 cases in our district during the 2021-22 school year.

In order to streamline our communication efforts, we will post daily updates to our website. We will no longer send district-wide emails for cases. We will communicate directly with parents/guardians of any student that is affected by a confirmed COVID-19 case. If you are not contacted by the District or the Department of Health regarding a COVID-19 case, no action is needed on your part.

Reported cases confirmed by the Rensselaer County Department of Health (DOH) will be posted daily to our COVID-19 Report Card webpage (Monday-Friday while school is in session).

Please note, if there is no daily update posted on the district website for a particular school day, then the district did not receive confirmation from DOH of any positive cases for that day.

The Rensselaer County Department of Health has established Quarantine Protocols for the 2021-22 school year, and the District works closely with the DOH to identify those who must quarantine. If quarantining of students is necessary, you will be contacted directly by your child’s school or the Department of Health.

We continue to follow all COVID-19 protocols in our buildings, including mask-wearing, social distancing and enhanced cleaning and sanitizing protocols. Learn more about our COVID-19 layered mitigation protocols and procedures by visiting www.troycsd.org/covid19

As a reminder, please do not send your child to school if they are sick or have any of these symptoms: fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, and diarrhea.

The safety of our students and staff continues to be our top priority and we thank you for your support and cooperation.

Sincerely,

John Carmello
Superintendent of Schools
