The Extra Mile for the month of May goes to our beloved monitor Jason Kimball. The students of PS12 are always happy to have a talk or play some basketball with Jason, and he truly makes the building feel like home. Jason is naturally gifted in the art of de-escalation and can stop problems before they even start. He gets on a personal level with students, giving them the respect they deserve and lets them feel heard. Actions such as these are the reason why students are happy to see Jason. When he’s not in the building, Jason can be found doing home visits to deliver school work, food, household necessities or something as simple as a message letting the guardians of our students know we want to see them and most of all make sure they are okay. Jason exemplifies what it means to have an entire school staff dedicated to the well-being of their students. We love you, Jason!
