Dear Families:

We were notified this weekend that one of our bus drivers has tested positive for COVID.19. This bus transports students in one of our our high school out-of-district programs.  All affected students have been notified. Neither the bus driver, nor any of the students that ride this bus have been on campus or physically in any of our buildings.

The District is working closely with the Rensselaer County Department of Health (DOH) and will be following up with those students for specific quarantine instructions. While we understand that you might like additional details, due to privacy laws, we cannot release any identifiable information about the individual or affected students. We will communicate to the school community if and when we have a positive case to report.

We ask that all school families, students and staff members continue following all safety guidelines outside of school hours, including wearing masks, social distancing, practicing good hygiene and limiting group gatherings.  As a reminder, symptoms of COVID-19 vary, and some people may not experience any symptoms at all. If you have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, chills without a fever, sore throat, muscle aches and pains, or loss of smell or taste, we encourage you to contact your Health Care Professional or the Department of Health. Anyone who is ill must stay home and may not enter school buildings.

As always, the health and safety of students and staff is our top priority and we appreciate your continued support.

Sincerely,

John Carmello

Superintendent of Schools
