Troy City School District Food Service Director Rich Hollander has been named the “Golden Pineapple Award Winner” for the fiscal year 2019 by Whitson’s Food Service – the company our District uses for school meals.
According to Whitson’s, the PINEAPPLE Award is a way to recognize their Food Service Directors & Resident District Managers by commemorating outstanding performance. Awarded each quarter by their district managers, at the end of each year all Pineapple Award winners are eligible to win the Whitsons’ Golden Pineapple Award. This annual award is bestowed upon one “Foodservice Director of the Year” who exemplifies business excellence in school foodservice and consistently goes above and beyond the call of duty.
Bill Whitcomb, Rich’s District Manager, said, “Rich is an exceptional director who brings years of stellar service and continues to drive the day-to-day operations at Troy to new levels. He continuously excels at financial management and surpasses his program goals with a passion. He plays an active role in delivering excellent service and food each day with a focus on making an impact on his community, but his accomplishments don’t end there. Rich has continued to demonstrate his commitment to our mission of Enhancing Life One Meal at a Time™ by searching for additional community programs, adding over four new programs to his district in just three years. These new programs have brought high-quality food services to the local community and expanded the services offered to the students at Troy. His continued determination goes above and beyond and helped form an alliance with Capital Roots, a local farm to school program. These efforts were recognized by district and community and gained media attention through the state.”
