The Troy City School District is pleased to announce Allison Poland as its Valedictorian and Soumia Mansouri as its Salutatorian for the Class of 2019.

Allison Poland

Allison PolandAllison is the daughter of Jude and Jeffrey Poland. She has earned the distinction of Valedictorian for the Troy High School Class of 2019 with a grade point average of 98.44.

Allison is the recipient of the Rochester Institute of Technology Innovation and Creativity Award, the Enfanto Award, Class of 1968 James A. Spain Memorial Award, the Scholars’ Recognition Program Award, the Class Advisors’ Award, the Troy High School French Club Award, and the New York State Math Honor Society Achievement Award.  She is also the recipient of the New York State Board of Regents Merit Scholarship for Academic Excellence, the O’Haire Award for Physical Science, the CSEA Graduate Incentive Award, and the Troy Teachers’ Association Scholarship.

Allison is a member of the National Honor Society and the treasurer of the Junior/Senior Board. She is the Secretary of both the New York State Math Honor Society and the French Club.  She is also a member of the Troy High Varsity Girls Soccer Team.

She will graduate with a New York State Advanced Regents with honors and 42 college credits from Hudson Valley Community College and the University at Albany. She will continue her education at LeMoyne College in the fall where she will study mathematics.

 

Soumia Mansouri

Soumia MansouriSoumia is the daughter of Razika and Abdelhamid Mansouri. She has earned the distinct honor of being named Salutatorian of the Troy High School Class of 2019 with a grade point average of 98.26.

As a senior, Soumia is the recipient of the Nancy J. Burns Scholarship, the New York State Board of Regents Merit Scholarship for Academic Excellence, the Scholars’ Recognition Program Award, and the Troy High School French Club Award for High Academic Achievement. As a junior, she was the recipient of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Medal for her academic achievements.

Soumia is a four-year member of the French Club, as well as a member of National Honor Society.  She is the vice president of the Math Honor Society. She represented Troy High School at the Suburban Leadership Council and participated in the Troy High School Choir.

Soumia will be graduating with 33 college credits from Hudson Valley Community College and the University at Albany. She will receive a New York State Advanced Regents with honors and will continue her education at RPI in the fall where she will study biomedical engineering.
