On October 18, Carroll Hill School kindergarten students welcomed several visitors from the City of Troy. Students had the opportunity to meet city employees who help to keep things running smoothly and safely. The event was part of the “community helper” unit the students just finished in their classrooms
Students got to sit inside a fire truck, police car and even a City of Troy street cleaner. They also had the opportunity to meet City of Troy Mayor Patrick Madden.
Part of the goal of the visit is to help children feel comfortable and safe around the firefighters who, in their full gear, can be frightening to a child with no previous interaction. Similarly, by interacting with police officers and learning what they do, students will know they’re there to help.
Thank you to everyone who participated!
