As part of Black History Month, School 2 held a panel discussion with local community members about determination and hard work. Students in Grades 3-5 asked the panelists questions about their experiences and how they could make a difference. Thank you to our special guests:

Dr. Casey Parker, Troy High School Administrator; Angela O’Neil, Director, African American Cultural Center; Winsome Foderingham, Associate Director, Corporate & Foundation Relations, University at Albany; Davia Collington, Community Prevention Specialist, Rensselaer County Drug-Free Coalition; Hank Shuford, Retired Associate Director of Admissions, University at Albany; Pastor Alphonso Meadows, Clergy; Ainsley Thomas, Chief Diversity Officer, Hudson Valley Community College; and Will Aybar, Entrepreneur.

School 2 students also performed traditional African dance and drumming at today’s BHM assembly.
